1st Prize Winner: Tawny Reynolds
2nd Prize Winner: Lara Klawikowski
3rd Prize Winner: Andrea Albertyn

WINNER – 1ST PRIZE
Tawny Reynolds
Tawny’s dress was made for Rachel Leen who merchandises footwear for Foschini. Rachel likes metallic fabrics and the colour black, so this was taken into account when creating this dress that epitomises the rock ‘n roll look of the 80s. Rachel’s sporty style was blended into the creation by keeping it simple ad easy to move in. This attention to detail made the choice clear in the judges’ minds that this is Foschini’s star designer for 2008.

2ND PRIZE
Lara Klawikowski

Being attached to a former FAD finalist, Bongiwe Marabe, who is now a Ladieswear buyer for Foschini was most exciting for Lara, as she had to ‘outdo’ her model. Being a fashion buyer means that Bongiwe’s tastes border on quirky and fashion-forward, and always falls into the season’s trends. Lara added Bongiwe's favourites for this season, which include ruffles, bows, belts and large accessories.  The judges felt that the design matched Bongi’s style perfectly.

3RD PRIZE
Andrea Albertyn

Andrea designed a dress for Elzaan Smit, Marketing co-ordinator for Foschini. She set out to combine the 80s prom dress look with Elzaan’s personal style and taste. She chose fabrics that consist of a range of chiffons, polka dots and patterned satins, keeping in with the Summer ’08 trend. This fabulous outfit was finished off with hand-beaded sandals and vintage bag. The judges loved the fact that this outfit definitely looks like something that can be found in a Foschini store.
